BioBall is first biodegradable hardcourt ball to be USAPA-certified for tournament play

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (Fall 2024) – Komodo Pickleball, a leading innovator in high performance sports equipment, this week released the sport’s first biodegradable pickleball with a durable construction that lasts five times longer than standard pickleballs.

Each year, 500 million pickleballs are produced according to industry estimates and that number continues to rapidly grow as the sport expands on a global basis. The Komodo BioBall is made with a proprietary bio-based additive that extends the performance lifespan of a standard pickleball and accelerates decomposition when introduced to a landfill. The BioBall completely degrades (no microplastics) within 3-5 years in a landfill compared to hundreds of years for traditional plastics.
